Poem on Patience – The Wait

You call me everyday
You call me every night

I search to answer your call
Door after door I seek and search

Is this the right door?
Perhaps the the next one will open to me.

But the locks remain intact
The doors do not open

There are welcoming signs
And smiling faces

That keeps me going
To keep on searching

But there is no response
Silence upon silence

But I cannot stop
No matter what

Despite no responses and no easy way
I cannot stop the seeking

I cannot sleep at night
I cannot be at rest

I tire myself
I pant, I sigh

I finally pause and start thinking
Maybe it is just a matter of timing

It is time to wait until the doors open themselves
I don’t have to force it

I don’t have to shout
I don’t have to bang

I just have to wait
Wait with a knowing that it will open one day

To wait with dignity
And to wait with patience
